I'm trying to get a job in a shop, and the application gives me two options to choose from. Enter the representative's customer. If nothing is heard in a few days, follow up with the mailer, saying they are only for monitoring purposes.

Do both. Send an e-mail and give a copy to the customer service person. This means ensuring that they do and shows that you really have this job. Make sure that the spelling is perfect in the curriculum and is ready for an interview.
